I found this Estee Lauder set at an outlet and am excited to try these different forms of skin care.  I am of the age that firming & lifting are very important to me!  Of course, it would be helpful to be consistent with the products but I admit that I am not.
I know these will be high quality products so even a little improvement will be wonderful!

A couple of times a year, I take a tissue and rub over my powder products and scrub fairly rigorously to that a new layer comes to the surface.  Though I use clean bushes, I think this keeps fresh product on top.  It can't' hurt!

I just found this holiday collection from Two Faced and the eye shadows are calling me!!

I can't believe this haircut is only 2 weeks old!  If I wanted it to grow of course it would not!  I still have 2 weeks before the next appt!
But I am still in love with Drybar's Southern Belle Volumizing Mousse - it gives serious volume without stiffness and it is on my Sephora list - to be had, again!

Please see this blog - such a lovely person and thank you for remembering me! She is one of us  'more lovely for longer' ladies -- is that not the best name !!.  Love you Mimi (the other one!!)

Hi, my name is Mimi and I have a pen problem:
NO, this is not at all the amount of pens I have bought - if it is pink or purple ink, I bought it!
I love this time of year when all the new choices have arrived!  If you see me buying more, stop me!

Dear Gs is a dinosaur aficionado and has been since he began reading many years ago.  So for his 4th birthday I made a Jurassic Park cake and he was thrilled - now it is the only one he requests.  I make the cake of different levels and crumb coat the entire thing with chocolate to represent dirt, along with crushed choc cookies.  I buy dinosaur 'eggs' (jelly beans in marshmallow flavor so they are speckled), pretzels for fences and make white frosting which can be colored for: water/pond=blue; volcano lava=orange and grass=green.  I always have a variety of sprinkles on hand and they use them to give dimension to the landscape - they are very artistic and have a great time creating the masterpiece!
At this point, I have already collected various dinosaurs and washed them.

Jurassic Park birthday cake - sparklers in the volcano - pretzel fences trying to keep the dinosaurs caged, but to no avail!
*Put them in white t-shirts so you can bleach the dyed frosting out!
Happy birthday angel -  I love you more than my next breath.

***I have decided to be careful about the photos of my loved ones that I share.  I recently read that pics of children taken from social media sites are used in foreign countries for nefarious purposes.
A local news show stated people should not put pictures of children with their names and the schools they attend on public websites.  I think this is a reasonable precaution.
It is a sad state of affairs but protecting our little ones is always paramount to anything.  Be careful out there.

Ulta kindly sent me a $10 gift certif for my birthday and I used it for some basic things:
I will give more details about these products after this week - we celebrate my adorable GS's birthday and his presents are wrapped but I still have a Jurassic Park cake to build.

I have been wanting to try Prada's 'Candy' perfume as I liked a sample I received.  As a rule, I would shy away from a product that has a name that is too 'cutesy' .  But I am happy with this small purchase - it will not be an every day fragrance but will be nice for a change.  It is floral without being too sweet and not so large that I will tire of it before it is finished.

I also received a free Urban Decay eye shadow in 'Midnight Cowboy'.  It is too glittery for me as an eye shadow but used lightly, it will be fine for a brow highlighter.
(To be honest, I should just give it away - I know I won't use it !!!)

I finally got around to trying my new  L'Oreal Colour Riche Pocket Palette in ' Avenue Des Roses'.
I like the pale lavender and bronze colors - this will be fine all through fall.

I like this hairspray!  It is one of a zillion that I have but this actually works well without too much stiffness.  The product states there is caffeine in the ingredients - I don't know how that helps hold a style but I have been happy with this!
Finally,  a haircut!

It is getting time to start the holiday baking so things can be put in the freezer and ready to be mailed off at the right time.

This is the refrigerator/freezer in the kitchen and then there are 2 other freezers in the garage. During the holidays it takes every bit of space I have to store things and even then sometimes I have to molly-hock items and make room!!  I love baking and do not want to be rushed during the holidays.

If you love anything Christmas, see this blog:

Since Ulta had 20% off I picked up a few things - especially the seasonal shower gel because you can't get this in the fall/winter and I love the scent. And it was half off so that made the purchase irresistible!
Ulta Shiny Sheer Lip Gloss
                                             Top: Fuchsia                             Bottom:Rouge

Fuchsia is more berry toned and a shade deeper
Rouge is more red without being stark
This is not goopy lip gloss - it provides color with a little shine that reflects light back so lines on the lips are not so noticeable.  I keep a variety of these in every bag.
I always buy these when Ulta has a sale even if I don't need any - just in case!

While out and about I stopped at a discount dept store and found these e.l.f. Cosmetics Baked Eyeshadow Palettes.
I picked up California
 and Texas
Infused with active key ingredients that include jojoba, rose, sunflower, apricot and grape to nourish and hydrate the skin.  These are baked in ovens and can be used wet or dry - I only use dry simply to save time.
These are small and will be great for travel or as stocking stuffers for the holidays.  The prices varied from $5 - $10.
*Speaking of the holidays - I need a pink/shabby chic tree skirt - if you know where I can find something like this let me know.

Since Too Faced was having a 30% off sale I need this!
  Rainforest After Dark
colored clay eye & cheek palette - absolutely love these colors and they can be worn all year long.
Colors:
bare to explore (pink beige)
make a mauve (plum mauve)
plum away with me (dark plum)
up to no gold (gold)
tan-gled up in you (tan)
don’t turn a-brown (dark brown)
unleashed (nude rose blush)
champagne (highlighter)
park ave princess (bronze)
I have  had my eye on this for months and now the price is right!
Formulated without parabens, mineral oil, triclosan, soldium lauryl sulfate and phthalates

I also ordered  Brazilliance set of 5 self-tanning face towelettes
This is a good product - I apply moisturizer (with SPF) - let it sink in and then use the towels
for quick bronzing.  Many times I don't need additional face make up.

and lip facial lip scrub.
I will not buy the lip facial again - it is very rough & scratchy - it does what it should but it could be a little more delicate - but I will keep it.
With 30% off, I can't go wrong!  After all, I have a birthday coming up so why not celebrate early!

I must say I do not like the shipping options from this company - they will not send packages to a PO Box - my house is at least a 1/4 mile from the road so I don't feel like packages are safe, as I cannot see when the mail carrier arrives and they will not bring it back to the house.  It seems we pay more and get less service.

I love this time of year because Pantone gives us a forecast of seasonal colors.

                                   Pantone's Colors for Fall 2016
Sharkskin, Lush Meadow, Potter's Clay, Spicy Mustard, and Riverside
 pantone-colors-5.jpg
All these colors definitely announce Fall!
My personal favorite is Bodacious – Pantone 17-3240 (#5 on top row below).
It sends me back to the lovely Radiant Orchid of a couple of years ago.

But truly, most of these colors will work together beautifully straight thru spring.
Which is your favorite?

My beloved grands having fun at Mimi's - can't they stay little forever?

Next week my precious GS and I will celebrate our birthdays - he will be in dinosaur heaven (he is so easy to shop for!) and I will make a Jurassic Park cake that he helps decorate.  Messy fun will be had by all !!  (Picture from several years ago)
