Hello Spring
As I am still on bed rest, I am forever clicking the remote in a vain attempt to find something entertaining.  I came across the HSN shopping network & saw they are featuring Too Faced cosmetics - I have never shopped there but was impressed they had such a high end collection.  I have had this palette for a while & it's fun & handy- it's called the "No Makeup Makeup" by Too Faced:

It includes: Bronzing Veil, Creme Blush, Powder Blush, Concealer, Luminizer & Brightener, along with a tin compact case with small mirror & instructions.

I don't use this very often but it is convenient - you have everything you need in one tin box which will protect it in the suitcase.
They frequently do palettes like this so you could check with Ulta.

My heart is broken - my best friend is moving out-of-state & I understand it but still hate it.  We have so much in common - we can even go a month & not see each other & we just pick up & keep going.  I have shed tears over this but she will be closer to her daughter & grandchildren and I want this for her.  But I can't stop the tears.  I am going to need a new bottle of Jack Daniels.

OK, apparently I need to fill my day so maybe I should reconsider my closet-here are a few pics but I still cannot reach up very far so I just may be brave & pull out pieces I have not worn in a long time - this will need to include my handbag collection:

This end of the walk-in has a full length mirror in the middle & surrounded by peg board so I can hang things up(I refuse to show the floor=things that are not hung up!!)
I am someone that must carry the world around with me so some of these bags are not large enough but were gifts - I know that is no excuse not to de-clutter!  I guess I could find a consignment shop esp for the things that still have tags on them.  But you know how it goes - as soon as something is gone, I will want it back!  Is there a pill for that??
I have a bag similar to the one shown on  http://www.walkinginmemphisinhighheels.com/
Both of mine are Dooney & Bourke & have never been used but I probably will eventually!
This was yesterday's weather:
and today it is bright & sunny = spring in the South! Hope you are having good weather.

Once again we are getting sleet & snow so I need cheering up and this will definitely do it!
 Viktor & Rolf - Flowerbomb Gift Trio
This is a great value if you enjoy the Flowerbomb perfume.  Here is some of the info about the scent:
Sambac Jasmine, Centifolia Rose, Cattleya Orchid, Ballerina Freesia, Patchouli.
Style:  Oriental, Gourmand, Floral.
I love roses & freesia so this is a nice combination for me.

 For the approximate cost of the perfume, you also receive the body cream & shower gel.  I was also eligible for several nice free samples of products that I have never tried:
* Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Ferulic & Retinol Anti-Aging Moisturizer
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara
Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation
Thank you Sephora!

I hope you are having better weather.  I have been putting off going to the Dr. but when it becomes nice I will not have an excuse. But this cold & damp weather is bothering my back - honestly, getting old is not for sissies!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you have a great week which includes the official start of spring!

I found this ribbon in shades of the 2014 Color of the Year & I think this will be lovely on this year's Christmas tree.  It will give a refreshing pop of color - after all, it's only 290 days until Christmas!
  The interesting thing is that I bought this ribbon well over a year ago - long before Pantone decided on the Color of the Year - maybe they will check with me later this year to see what I think will be the Color of the Year for 2015!!!  But I could live with Radiant Orchid for a long time.

So many of my favorite bloggers are showing great outfits & I appreciate the opportunity to link up, but no one wants to see my pajamas, which is all that is accommodating my broken back.  I am ready to wear something else but I still have to rest flat on my back all during the day.  So I am trying to entertain my wonderful readers with other things: makeup, jewelry, shoes & a cute granddaughter!

I am so loving this shoe!

Charles David 'Passion' Pointy Toe Pump   $249.95

    • 4" heel (size 8 1/2).
    • Suede or leather upper/leather lining and sole.
    • By Charles David; made in Spain.
 But I have to say as I look at some outfits featuring torn jeans & high heels - this is not really an original look since every 20-something is doing it.  I don't know what happened but dressing in a pretty way has disappeared.

For those of you in my generation, James Taylor is coming for 2 shows in NC.  I remember seeing him in concert when I was 16 - and he was cute as a button -
oh, and the concert was good too!!  As a daily migraineur, concerts are impossible for me but it brings back nice memories that he is returning to his roots  ( his dad was a prof at UNC). Welcome back, Sweet Baby James!

As I looked thru the new fashion magazines that arrived, this thought came to me:
 I love that the name "ombre" had to be created to explain why people will not maintain their hair color!   There are so many lovely colors out there  -  STOP!!

 I open my email from Estee Lauder & see some pics from the fall runway & this is what they are showing!
Pools of grey & green - where is the color of the year?  -  I will not be purchasing "Camo Chrome" for fall.  This poor girl looks like someone smacked her!
I can't stand it any more - on to something that is cute to look at :
Do you think she will be able to find a date for the prom?
She is coming this weekend & has requested cupcakes with sprinkles - I hope all her wants are this simple for now & forever!

I love this year's color & this might have to go on the" I must have list":

Beautiful purple lady dior
This is past beautiful!

I like Fekkai products and my friend bought this for me:
It is a liquid mousse that is shaken & then use 2 pumps, which will keep me from over-using the product!
I also love his Glossing Cream but always use too much & my hair is straight enough but it gives hair a glistening shine!

 I plan to celebrate the moment my Doctor turns me loose so I will be having a giveaway - I will say it's eye shadow & I will give more details over time.  There will not be a dozen hoops to jump thru but you must become a follower by using the "Join this site" button on the right because that is only fair to the people that visit regularly- so become a follower while there is still time!  I will only be able to mail the prize within the US because global mailing is extremely expensive - I am so sorry about that.  But the day may come when that will change!

Have a nice weekend and to prove Mother Nature is still in charge, we will have snow flurries on Sat & then 60's on Sunday!!!!!

I am loving the nautical look & apparently have for a while - confession is good for the soul right?  Long sleeve or short, I love them all:
I like these & wear them frequently:
I guess I should also give recognition to my stylist, a professional 4 year old, going on 21!!!!!!  Apparently I wore her out - I must be a difficult client!
She is definitely mine - she has never seen a piece of jewelry she did not love!!!!!  But unfortunately she has my nickel allergy so only the good stuff for us !!

Come see us at Visible Monday:http://notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html and http://searchingtheinnerme.blogspot.pt/2014/02/tres-chic-style-bits-16-street-style.html and http://www.walkinginmemphisinhighheels.com/2014/03/trend-spin-linkup-week-39-stripes-checks.html#
ETA: As a rule, I keep colors together in my closet, (the pict above is killing me) but my back is not healed enough to do laundry (I know - I'm breaking your heart!) and we are keeping all my things on the lower section of the walk-in. I look forward to putting a mean clean on that closet when the Dr sets me free or I sneak in there when no one is looking - don't let that angelic face above fool you -she rats me out every time I pick up something!

I received my small haul from Ulta & I just absolutely love the  Tarte Be MATTEnificent Amazonian Colored Clay Matte Eye & Cheek Palette
   And these were the other goodies:
The Neutrogena Triple Moisture leave in conditioner is great & sometimes hard to find.
For me, it's one of the best leave-in conditioners because it does not weigh the hair down-even if I get heavy handed!! And of course, it does not bother my sensitive skin.

The Ulta Automatic Eye Liner in Bronze is a favorite - I don't line my lower eyes with it but instead, use it to dot along where the eye lashes attach - since I have green eyes, it just gives a little something extra to highlight the green color.

 I enjoy reading other blogs but I hate going to a site that has so many ads & cookies that the computer bogs down & almost crashes - that is a good way to keep me from ever coming back to your site!

Ok, I hope these are my last snow shots for the year!!!

 Today we are facing 'snowmageddon' so please stay put wherever you are.

Do you have a favorite lotion?  I have some which varies during the different seasons.
I have started using argan oil after applying lotion which has been very beneficial & the oil smells heavenly. I am not gaga about Amlactin because of the scent but it works well enough.

I am wanting a new bucket style bag for spring & I love my vintage LV Noe:

   and I would love to have a similar style in blue, sort of like this:

If you know of such an animal please email.  I love my Noe but once I put everything in the world inside, it becomes too heavy.  And apparently I have to be careful with my back for months ahead.  But we still have to be stylish!!!!!!!!

 This year my friends and I turn 60  -  it definitely will be a pivotal time in my life and my recent accident brought the finality to life completely home in perspective; so I beg you, live each day fully  -  tell the ones you love how much they mean to you and have fun even if it is only that extra cup of coffee!  No really, eat the cookie !!

Saturday, February 8, 2014

Thank you for all the chocolate but it has to stop - laying around eating these divine morsels is going to take a toll!

Truly I do not need any more temptation - at least wait until Valentines Day!
As a rule we don't make a fuss about V Day here except for the 2 grandchildren & they love cupcakes so that is easy - the best part is just having them here for the weekend.  I want my beloveds to know thru out the year how special they are & I hope I am accomplishing that.  I still can't be out of bed for long periods but I do hope Chilis chips & salsa find their way to my house!

I have been trying to put some spring accessories together, which will include variations of the color of the year - what do you think?

The bracelet on the right is champagne diamonds & I love it but never wear it - I'm not getting any younger so what am I saving it for?????
I also love this bag & have never used it:

I think orchid & various shades of pink are going to be "my" colors this spring, when I can finally get out of the house!
We are supposed to get snow here again so I will just rest in front of the fireplace - I hope you have a great weekend & please be safe on the roads.

Be sure to come visit us at  http://notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.com/ !!

Apparently the cool chickens have started incorporating the color of the year!

I so want shoes in this color!

Before I messed up my back I found this & thought it was a bargain:
10 brushes for $10!!  No, they aren't brushes I will keep forever but I am bad to throw my brushes away instead of clean them - I confess!  The upside is that if I don't like them, there is not a big investment.
But I do like these brushes and they are easy to find:
There is a large variety & different sizes and they are very soft which is important with sensitive skin.
I have been up long enough - I walked into the kitchen thinking I was craving something but did not find anything, so I will just go take the pain meds & call it a day!

                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About 2 weeks ago I broke my back and by the next weekend my friend, Sandy, had brought over lasagna, beef stew, french bread & brownies - and her friendship.
I wish a friend like her, for everyone.  I cannot imagine not having her in my life.
No, we don't talk every day and may go over a month and not see each other.  But whatever life hands us, we know we don't have to go it alone.
Do yourself a favor and find that special friend - the one you would walk thru fire for.
It's the ultimate gift you can give yourself.
I prefer matte eye shadows and I realize a little shimmer can be nice for evening but for most of us as we get older anything glittery highlights all the wrong things!
I liked this as soon as it arrived in my email:
Tarte - Be MATTEnificent Amazonian Colored Clay Matte Eye & Cheek Palette
 Tarte Be MATTEnificent Amazonian Colored Clay Matte Eye & Cheek Palette:
 This set contains:
* 2 x 0.1185 oz Eye shadow in Dream in Chocolate, Don't Stand Black
* 6 x 0.0758 oz Eye Shadow in Sand Out From the Crowd, Peach for the Stars, Two Plums Up, Pink Outside the Box, Rose to the Occasion, View From the Taupe
* 0.1544 oz Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Elevated
* Double-ended eye shadow brush
I have green eyes & always thought these shades are just right for my eye color.
Since I am supposed to be flat on my back, I will have to get this thru mail order but it will be worth the wait.
If you have had to stay in bed for long periods of time how did you keep yourself amused?  I am becoming bored quickly- a broken back is not a vacation!
Isn't snow wonderful - when it's somewhere else?!!
Snow everywhere
I am loving the shades of this eye shadow-
This is inexpensive NYX 'Love in Rio' & went on smoothly with nice color payoff.
Since I hurt my back, I can't get out for a while but I can definitely shop in my dressing room where there are plenty of unopened products.
Tomorrow my 2 little munchkins come for a visit:
Seeing those sweet faces will really make me feel better.
I have sat up long enough so back in bed to rest.  Please be careful if you are dealing
with bad weather & stay safe.
Monday, January 13, 2014
I want to tell everyone to please be careful on the roads especially after a storm. It only takes a second for the car to go off the road and you end up with a broken back.  It is not fun & very painful. I am looking at months of recovery and having to be immobile - not my idea of a good time.
Please be very careful and if in doubt just stay home; I want only the best for all of you.
We are expecting cold temps & freezing rain here in the South, so let's think about the beauty of the coming spring..........
If you like Dior, you have to see the spring collection  - have mercy, these are beautiful!
Some of the items are starting to appear in Macy's & Nordstrom's & Sephora should be stocking soon so we can use our VIB points.
I was recently watching a cooking show whereby the woman was making macaroni salad - as she proceeded to add sweet pickles AND additional sugar, I almost lost consciousness!  We do not do it like that here in the South - it's just not done!
This sister girl completely gets it:  http://www.thesaucysoutherner.com/old-timey-macaroni-salad/
Here's mine:
Remember you can't buy happiness but you can buy wine!
Don't rely on someone else to make you feel complete! Be with someone who loves all of you completely! ❤
What I might be 'wearing' in the new year..........
As I channel surfed today, I saw the movie "Sex in the City" was on and I happened to stop when the indefatigable Samantha states, 'Yes, I love you but I love me more'.
Southern girls are reared (you raise corn, you rear children) to put everyone ahead of themselves - to put ourselves first in line is a mind-blowing concept - and I am willing to give it a try!
Love actually  -  that is what I may be wearing in the new year - and I think it will look great on me!
Organization is on my mind & I use a variety of make up brushes - so I found this paint brush holder & it is the perfect fit for my vanity:
I also want to organize some of my everyday make up & the items must coordinate with my decorating scheme, so I bought some of these boxes that will look pretty on my armoire:
Now if I can keep everything in its place, life will be good!
If you visit, please feel free to leave your site in the comments section, as I am happy to follow back - it's fun to discover new blogs.
My thought for the day:
Do not let your past rob your future. Each new day is a chance to make a new beginning. Count your blessings, live with gratitude and love with all your heart.
Monday, December 30, 2013
The new year is almost here which is always an exciting time.
I am thinking I will shop within my dressing room for a while and re-discover products that I have forgotten about - I can see unopened boxes which is a good incentive!
 The grandchildren leave tomorrow and the house will be too quiet - I already miss those sweet faces.
I am going to Visible Monday  http://notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.com/   to see what everyone is wearing - always a fun time.
Saturday, December 21, 2013
I hope the holidays are wonderful for you & the weather is cooperative-we are set to have record heat here in the South!
Are you planning to try new products in the coming year?  I got this set about a month ago & have been using the cleanser but I may try the entire regimen and see if I notice a difference:
It is Peter Thomas Roth's 20th Anniv Kit.  It includes Anit-Aging Cleansing Get, FirmX Peeling Gel, Cucumber Gel Mask, Power K Eye Rescue, Neuroliquid Youth Serum and Oilless Oil Purified Squalane -I have been wanting to try the Power K & the Squalane so I may as well try everything together for maximum benefit.
My adorable hair dresser cut some extra layers in my hair & I really like it.  I can also flip it out which I do frequently, depending on the humidity levels!
Forgive the No Makeup look!
I wish you every happiness during the holidays and upcoming new year - it should be fun discovering new things that help us define our style.  Here's to 2014 !!!!
